Don't hibernate... Exfoliate!
Don’t let your skin dry out! Your skin loses more moisture during the cold weather and by indoor heating than during the warmer months. How can you prevent dryness? Exfoliate regularly! By doing so, you will reveal a more youthful, plumper skin that is ready to absorb moisture and nutrition from your skincare products. Another wonderful benefit of sloughing regularly is that it stimulates skin cell turnover!
The most overlooked game changers for healthy glowing skin are Exfoliants, Serums, and Masques. Today I will focus on exfoliants.
Know the difference between exfoliant types
A professional esthetician will choose to use chemical or mechanical exfoliants based on your skin’s unique needs. I always use and recommend organic skin care products to provide the most natural, nurturing facials. In my holistic esthetics services, I use my absolute favourite, the Éminence Organic Skin Care line.
Chemical exfoliants contain either enzymes or alpha- or beta- hydroxyl acids. The Éminence products that I use contain ingredients that originate from different naturally sourced plants or fruits and are organically grown. With this approach, the skin cells are loosened and can be effectively sloughed off. One of my favourites is Éminence’s Yam and Pumpkin Enzyme Peel.
Mechanical exfoliants contain one or more types of gentle abrasives, which could be rice, or different types of ground seeds. With this type of exfoliant you would need to gently massage the product over the treated area.
Some products, such as Éminence’s Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant, combine both chemical and mechanical exfoliating agents to give you the best of both worlds.
Exfoliating the eye area requires special care
Exfoliant products are designed for use on specific areas, such as the body, face, and eye area. The face is more delicate than the body and the eye area is the most delicate and most vulnerable.
I recommend Éminence’s Naseberry Eye Exfoliant, specifically formulated for the eye area. It improves the skin’s tone and texture and infuses vitamins and antioxidants to help combat the look of fine lines, puffiness, and redness. The Naseberry Eye Exfoliant is formulated to prevent whiteheads (milia), which could occur with products that are not designed for the eye area.
How to gain the most benefit from facial exfoliation
To bring out your most radiant skin, I recommend that you get a professional facial every 4 to 6 weeks. Your esthetician is trained to use professional grade products that can go deeper for a more thorough exfoliation to reveal your best skin!
I encourage you to find the best esthetician that consider your skin’s specific needs, to provide the best facials for you. When you ask yourself, where is a spa near me that uses Éminence Organic Skin Care products, go no further than Inlet Wellness Gallery!
In my next article I will tell you why you can’t live without serums and masques!
